Digestive problems are reported in 2% of people suffering from long COVID 7 to 9 months after infection and in 4% of cases at 12 months. With the Omicron variant, digestive symptoms occur in 1.6% of cases 3 months after infection.
How do we test for it ?
A clinical assessment will be conducted to decide on the tests needed for your digestive problems. For example, a stool test may be recommended for diarrhea, and different diets or probiotics may be advised to address pain, diarrhea, constipation and other issues.
